Song For Dolce’ – A Bootleg Rehearsal Recording And Words From The Heart

I heard a quote on one of those award shows.  The quote was by Carrie Fisher and delivered by Meryl Streep.  “Take your broken heart, make it in to art”.

After the passing of our beloved Dolce’, the pain of losing her also opened my heart, my creativity and my hope for the future.  The truth be told….”we don’t get out of this world alive” but what we do and how we contribute to the collective will define and direct the energetic flow of change.  I believe that’s really all we have…each other.

After Dolce’s death I took a walk out to the end of the point at Menominee Park (Dolce’ and I used to sneak out there and as she stood on a rock in shallow water, I’d pray).

This time without her, I looked up and said, “God, people are telling me…look for Dolce’ in the waves, in the rush of leaves, in the wind…dear God, what is Dolce’ “in” right now!?”   Without missing a beat, a voice occupied my inner ear.

“Janet, Dolce’ is in LOVE”.

’nuff  said.

Thank you, God.

Song For Dolce’

In the autumn of our lives, we anticipate a change

How ironic and sublime, is how we remain the same

Nothing’s fallen, nothing’s lost, the tree of life grows on and on

Although the forecast calls for pain, we drink the wine, we drink the rain

In the autumn of our lives, there’s a place where love survives

Knowing spring will come what may, we learn to die to live again

In the autumn of our lives, with a wisdom in our eyes

We look back from where we came and long to live for love again.

This is a rehearsal of our song “Song For Dolce” obviously, the sonic quality is bad but the energy was amazing.

I wrote the lyric, melody and bass line and my husband, Tom Washatka (brilliant saxophonist) wrote the chords.

Musicians on this rehearsal tape:

Tom Washatka sax

Tom Theabo guitar

Ryan Korb drums

Randy Sabien violin

Bruce Lammers bass
